Obituary


Samuel Owen Moss, age 82 of Champion Ohio, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 6, 2012 in the emergency room at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Samuel was born on July 5, 1930 in Newton Falls Ohio the son of the late Harry Erton and Erma Estaline (McClain) Moss. Sam married his loving wife Vera May Hayes on October 17, 1951 and they raised four children together. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Sam worked at Republic Steel and then as a rolling mill operator at Packard Electric for 38 1/2 years, retiring in 1991. He was a very active member of the First Church of God in Newton Falls serving as a Sunday school teacher, chairman on the board of trustees and many years on church council. He also served as elder at the Harvest Point Church of God in Lordstown Ohio. Sam was also very active in scouting for many years and was an assistant troop scout master for troop 67 and committee member for over 40 years. He was a member of the Leavittsburg American Legion and Trumbull County Commander and Chaplain. He was also a member of The Ohio State Highway Patrol Auxiliary for the Southington Post. Memories of Sam will be carried on by his loving wife Vera May Moss of Champion. His daughter and son-in-law Debra and Rev. Neil Anderson of Owatonna Minnesota, son and daughter-in-law Rev. Robert and Renee Moss of Dayton Ohio, son Raymond Moss of Olathe Kansas, son and daughter-in-law Edward and Deborah Moss of Cortland Ohio, former daughter-in- law Rebecca Moss of Milford Indiana, two sisters and their husbands Vera and Robert Good of Aligainey New York, Sue and Robert Hamilton of Cortland Ohio, a brother and his wife Charles and Frances Moss, seven grandchildren Amber Friesen, Marcus Anderson, Brandon Moss, Erin Taylor, Deanne Perry, Adam Moss and Miranda Moss. Four great-grandchildren Ryan Anderson, Krista and Samuel Moss and William Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters Ada Ruth Church, Alda (Curly) Gordon, Almira Rood and a brother Robert Earl Moss.

Calling Hours will be at the James Funeral Home [8 East Broad Street] in Newton Falls on Wednesday from 5 to 8PM [EDT] where Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 9th, 2012 at 10:30AM [EDT]
Burial will be in Champion Twp. Cemetery. The family asks that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Harvest Point Church of God (Building Fund), 6100 Tod Ave SW Ste 4, Lordstown OH 44481.
